FREE LEGAL ADVICE SATURDAY

Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program will conduct a free legal advice clinic in Baytown at J.D. Walker Community Center, 7613 Wade Road, from 9:00-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10. Licensed Texas attorneys will be available to provide advice in numerous areas, including hurricane recovery, insurance, FEMA, property/title issues, divorce, custody, guardianship, adoptions, name changes, wills and probate, power of attorney, consumer issues, bankruptcy, landlord-tenant disputes, and government benefits.

Anyone who has been served with legal documents, or who has prior court papers affecting their legal matter, should bring these papers or documents with them on Jan. 10.

Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program cannot provide legal advice regarding criminal matters, municipal matters, or personal injury.

Only low-income residents are eligible for assistance; however in the vast majority of cases persons who come to the clinic typically have the opportunity at minimum to consult with an attorney. Referrals to legal service providers will be available.

For more information, or if a person needs legal advice but will be unable to attend the Jan. 10 clinic, call Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program at 713-228-0735.

This free-of-charge legal advice clinic for the Baytown Area is conducted with cooperation and support from Harris County Precinct 2, Houston Bar Foundation and United Way of Baytown Area.
